Katsura trees, which are best known for their gorgeous foliage, are slow-growing shade trees native to China and Japan. Their leaves change colors from season to season.

In the spring months, the heart-shaped leaves turn a reddish-purple, and by summer the leaves will be a soft teal.
Come autumn, they transform into buttery yellow and light orange hues. Fun fact: when its leaves wither and fall off the branches, they leave behind a sugary sweet aroma 🍬
Katsura trees can grow up to 60 feet tall, and their roots can grow to six inches or more above the ground. You can find these beautiful deciduous trees in Morris Arboretum near Pennock Garden.
