Can you tell it’s my favorite season? (Xandra McMahon/City Cast Philly)

It's one of the best seasons for nature walks. It’s a time of change, with leaves across our region expected to start showing off spectacular color in the coming weeks.

Want to go leaf peeping in Philly? Here’s some great spots to let go of stress and really enjoy the surrounding beauty.

Bartram’s Garden in Southwest Philly

This National Historic Landmark is an excellent place to start. The Bartram’s Mile Trail is actually a 1.55 mile paved path that stretches through the gardens. It’s perfect for a leisurely stroll or bike ride.

Awbury Arboretum in Germantown

This 56-acre historic landscape is an oasis for tree and plant lovers.

But you don’t have to go to these big spaces to appreciate the fall foliage in the city. At any park, from Rittenhouse Square to Norris Square, there are plenty of gorgeous colored leaves to marvel at every fall.

My Tips?

When you venture out for tree appreciation, make it a moving (or still) type of meditation. Fall is filled with so many aromas and sounds. The whistling of the leaves, the cool feel of the air and the wind, and the smell of maple trees.

Breathe deep and ground yourself in the moment. Soon, the colors will vanish, so enjoy the blessings of autumn while they’re here. Happy tree-watching! 🌳
