Going out for a drink alone can feel intimidating, but it doesn’t have to be. Whether you’re craving a refreshing cocktail or a delicious bite to eat, Philly has plenty of welcoming spots to enjoy some quality alone time. Pull up a stool at these 10 places:
Prunella | 112 S. 13th St.
Indulge in a solo date at Prunella in Center City, where you can get a pie and a craft cocktail. Sip on an Italian Sighthound, a refreshing drink made with rosemary vodka, grapefruit, and chili. As for the pie, I would suggest the Queen Bee which is made with hot coppa, provolone, and hot honey. Take a seat at the stunning marble bar, where there are a bunch of stools available.
Parc | 227 S. 18th St.
Head to Parc on Rittenhouse Square when you’re in the mood for specialty cocktails, wine from their extensive list, or craving an amazing dish off their food menu. There are plenty of smaller tables, making it a great place to sit alone and read your favorite book and pretend you’re dining in Europe.
Lorraine | 1502 Brown St.
In North Philly, Lorraine is a go-to dive bar for a solo drink. With its eclectic, laid-back vibe, it’s the perfect spot to enjoy a fun, yet relaxed atmosphere. Drinks are affordable and there are a ton of craft beer and cider options. This cozy, hole-in-the-wall spot features mostly bar stools, making it perfect for solo visits, or if you’re looking to strike up a conversation with someone new.
Oscar’s Tavern | 1524 Sansom St.
If you’re in the mood to catch a game, Oscar’s Tavern is the spot to go. You can grab a beer and cheer on the Eagles, or another favorite Philly team, as they score a big win. Even if you’re sitting alone, you're bound to find another sports fan rooting for the same team as you.
Harp & Crown | 1525 Sansom St.
Right across the street from Oscar’s Tavern, you’ll find Harp & Crown. Try the Pineapple Express made with rum, pineapple, allspice, and lime. With smaller tables, couches, and a bar, there are plenty of great seats for anyone looking to go alone. And for a great solo activity, there are two bowling lanes for use.
Darling Jack’s Tavern | 104 S. 13th St.
This bar in Center City has plenty to sip on, including zero-proof cocktails. Might we suggest the Raspberry Ricky? It’s made with lime, bubbles, and Thai basil. Prefer a window seat or maybe a spot by the kitchen? They offer both, allowing for a perfect solo experience.
Attico Rooftop Lounge | 219 S. Broad St.
This rooftop bar and restaurant has year-round indoor and outdoor seating, endless drink options, and a yummy food menu. This spot is a 21+ bar, making it a peaceful and calm environment to grab a drink by yourself. Note: Attico has a dress code, so plan accordingly.
R&D | 1206 Frankford Ave.
Named a Best of Philly winner for the Best Cocktail, R&D will not disappoint. Their cocktail menu is ever-evolving and features extraordinary and experimental drinks. This is a great spot for anyone looking for a specialty mix. My go-to is a bar stool by the window, so I can peacefully watch the world go by while sipping my drink.
Bar Lesieur | 1523 Sansom St.
Influenced by French eateries, this first-come-first-serve bar is another popular spot for Philadelphians to fly solo. This bar’s aesthetic is mirrored in its drink menu, with stunning beverages of all kinds. Their specialty Burlesque Martini is a refreshing blend of citrus vodka, raspberry, burlesque bitters, and sparkling brut.
The W | 1439 Chestnut St.
Last but certainly not least, the bar in the lobby of The W is a must-visit. Treat yourself to a perfectly crafted Espresso Martini, which comes with a cannoli on top! A hotel bar is a great spot to get a drink alone, as many travelers will be doing the same. No need to feel out of place!
