Your Guide to Philly in November 2024

00:00:00

As The Birds’ season gets into a groove and we oscillate between thinking that we’re winning it all or missing the playoffs entirely, that could only mean one thing — it's November. When you aren’t screaming “WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU DOING?” at the TV, Philly has plenty of other activities to keep you busy. So take a break from the Eagles and explore your city at the various events listed below.

👕 Let’s Get Festive

Celebrate what finally feels like fall weather and put on a flannel. The Philly Flannel Fest is Nov. 3 from 12–5 p.m., and this year it aims to break the Guinness World Record for the largest flannel-wearing gathering. If you aren’t feeling the flannels, might we suggest the Street Food Festival taking place Nov. 9 at Xfinity Live. There will be over 25 vendors serving food for $5 or less. Later in the month, on Nov. 16, you can sample various wines at Philly’s Wine Fest at the Live! Casino & Hotel Philadelphia. And to round out the month, the Christmas Village is back at City Hall starting Nov. 23.

🦃 Thanksgiving Day Celebrations

Returning for its 105th year, the 6ABC Dunkin’ Thanksgiving Day Parade is the classic way to begin your Thanksgiving Day celebrations. The parade will go through Center City, up Ben Franklin Parkway, and end at the Philadelphia Art Museum. If you can’t make it in person, no worries –you can catch it on 6ABC.

And if you miss the National Dog Show held right outside the city in Oaks on Nov. 16-17, cozy up and catch the broadcast on NBC Channel 10, noon to 2 pm, on Thanksgiving Day.

🤝 Volunteering Opportunities

In the season of giving, there are plenty of volunteer opportunities throughout Philly. Maverick Music Group is hosting a volunteer event to support Food for the Hungry. This opportunity will be on Nov. 25 from 5–10:30 p.m. at the Liacouras Center.

And you can help out your community by restoring Pennypack Park along the Delaware River. This involves cleaning up litter, removing invasive species, and caring for newly planted trees. The volunteer dates are Nov. 8, 16, and 22, all at 9 a.m.

The Homies Helping Homies winter coat drive kicks off on Nov. 14. There are five locations to drop off those coats cluttering your closet.

More Events to Check Out!

🎖️ Honor our veterans and celebrate their service at the Philadelphia Veterans Day Parade on Nov. 10 at noon. It ends at Eakins Oval with a free festival from noon to 4 p.m. There will be a ton of food vendors, including Deke’s BBQ and Farina Pasta & Noodle.

👟 Another big event to check out in Philly this month is the Philadelphia Marathon. While all the races from Nov. 22-24 are sold out, you can still volunteer or spectate.

❤️ Last but not least, the Franklin Institute will reopen two exhibits, the Body Odyssey and the Hamilton Collections Gallery, on Nov. 23. The Giant Heart is beating once again!
