Philly has amazing nightlife — but, it could be even better. For example, the city could use more late-night food spots and transit options. Plus, businesses that operate at night have unique challenges and need specific kinds of support to thrive. That’s why the Philadelphia Department of Commerce created a new job in 2022: the Night Time Economy Director, aka the city’s “Night Mayor.” We’re revisiting a conversation between host Trenae Nuri and Night Mayor Raheem Manning about the role and the needs of the businesses and people who keep our city going from sundown to sunrise.

Read the City’s first-year progress report on Philly’s night time economy here.

Businesses can contact the Department of Commerce’s Office of Business Services by calling 215-683-2100 or emailing business@phila.gov. Support is available in languages including Chinese, Khmer, Spanish, and Vietnamese.
