Kids’ Halloween Action Starts This Weekend

Spooky season is here, which means it’s time to throw on those costumes and grab your candy baskets. This pre-Halloween weekend offers a variety of ways for kids to embrace the Halloween spirit. 🎃

Kick off your Halloween festivities with a visit to the Philadelphia Zoo. Enjoy trick-or-treating while greeting your favorite animals, and take part in exciting fall activities – like feeding pumpkins to hippos and gorillas. Join the celebration on October 26 and 27 from 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Manayunk has its annual trick-or-treat event and Pretzel Park Farmers Market Costume Parade on Oct, 26. The parade will kick off at 10:30 a.m. down Main Street. Afterward, kids can trick-or-treat at local businesses til 2 p.m. And there will be activities at the farmers market including face painting and pumpkin painting.

The East Passyunk Fall Fest will take place on Oct. 26 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. with trick-or-treating, pumpkin carving, food and drink specials, live music, and more. New this year is a window dressing costume contest, which you can learn more about here.

This family-friendly event known as Trick-or-Treat Street is on Oct. 26 from noon to 2 p.m. Children 10 and under will have the opportunity to follow the trail for treats in Franklin Square. The event is free, but capacity is limited, and walk-up tickets are available while supplies last.

Various businesses in Chestnut Hill will be handing out candy and some non-food treats on Oct. 27 from 1-3 p.m. New this year is a Halloween Scavenger Hunt with 22 businesses from noon to 4 p.m. You have to sign up here beforehand for the scavenger hunt.

Head on over to Fishtown for a party in Konrad Square on Oct. 26 from 1-4 p.m. There will be candy for kids, prizes for adults, and more spooky festivities. There will also be live performances from Black Buttafly and The Ardvark Felon.
